Battery smoke alarms are easily obtained in your average DIY store but try and find a heat alarm and you need to search the internet. This heat alarm is no substitute for a smoke alarm but is very useful in a kitchen area where smoke can cause frequent false alarms. Best to have a smoke alarm as well somewhere else in the home. Only critcism is that it would be good if the alarm had a long life battery like te 10 year smoke alarm.First Alert Battery Operated Heat Alarm, H300CE
